On one side of the border lies the modern world: internet, homecoming dances, cell phones. On the other side dwell the ancient monsters that spark humanity's deepest fears:
History of Silver River and where Dragons Came From Thousands of years ago people and dragons lived together. Human nature, however, caused people to suddenly fear the dragons for reasons that are now lost and forgotten. After they were chased away some went to a secret land far away with the humans that still loved them. That land was called Dracopolis, and the people there wrote a book putting it into six sections and scattering the sections across the world. No one but the writers know where the pieces are, or what secrets they hold about the past. The dragons who did not go to Dracopolis went into a deep hibernation in the far north for hundreds of years. This went on until World War II when the loud bombs went off around their hibernation lands. No one could believe it when dragons took flight. After that dragons began appearing all over the world. They attacked places all over, frightened by how different the world was. After a week the attacks stopped. The Silver River Treaty came when three dragons landed in Washington D.C., London, and Moscow, asking to negotiate a peace. That was another shock, learning that dragons could speak English, Russian, and even Icelandic. They asked for their own territories, and to be left alone. They were willing to take uninhibited regions far to the north, if it included a portion of the mountains in North America. They loved mountains. A U.S. Bureau was formed in the Sliver River city to protect the border between people and dragons along the Rockies. Laws protect the border and keep people away from the border.
Dracopolis: "There is a haven for those tired of this war. There is a haven, out of view, where dragons and people still keep peace. It will always be a haven, and we pray that those who need it will find it in time"
Years ago, magic was something everyone knew about and people and dragons lived together. There was a king who hoped that people and dragons would always be together. He wrote of their powers and told everything about the human and dragon relationship. As time went on he saw that humans and dragons were becoming angered at each other. No one knows why or what happened but it was said he wrote about it then split his book into 4 parts. They were hidden for when the war was over people would find them. Some humans, those bounded with dragons, decided to go into hiding as the dragons did. They made tunnels underground in mountain areas. Years passed and they now have a city underground in the dragon territories. Modern people don’t know they are there and that they still practice the magic they hold, or the bounds they have with the dragons. Dracopolis people still live as people did thousands of years ago and have no idea what the modern world holds.
These are the groups in each different place:
Modern World 1. The Norms don't care anything about dragons. They don't even really notice that the dragons exist. They go on with life as usual.
2. The Dragon Slayers hate the dragons. They feel they were given land that they should not have. They want to be rid of all the dragons in the world.
3. Scatha is a new group. This group is a very secret group. If they are caught they will be sent to jail. These people want to get along with the dragons. They look into old myths and legends trying to learn more about the dragons. How far will they go to get answers?
Dragon Types(Please see the Other Worlds post where it tells you more about which dragons live where) Password:DragonSlayer 1. Wyver: two-legged dragon with two wings, a serpent’s head and the claws of an eagle. In modern images, they may have claws on the wings and a sting filled with poison on the end of its tail.
2. Amphitere:a type of legless winged serpent, they can live in water and live out of the water and fly.
3. Serpent: this dragon has no legs or wings. They live in the oceans of the world hidden in the depths. They only surface to talk with dragon elders but are never seen by people. Not all serpents are bounded to the ocean though, but they are well hidden and more like spies for the dragons. Humans don't know they exist.
4. Mountain Dragon: This is a four legged dragon with wings. They like to stay in caves and guard treasures they find and breath fire to defend themselves.

Dragon Information:Dragon Aging:First is information about how they age, aging is about the same for all types. Dragons grow very quickly the first year of their life. And egg is about the size of a basket ball. Once they hatch they are known to be extremely hungry. A newly hatched dragon will eat all he can. This is because his/her body is growing. After a few three months the small dragon is already the size of a large dog. The next three months the dragon will start gaining muscle and moving a lot more, and learning to hunt. After 12 months the dragon will be about as tall as an average horse. He/she will be strong enough now to begin riding and flying with. In the dragon territories this is the age where dragons are sent off on their own. In another years time he will be twice this size and ready to mate for the first time. After this stage the aging process slows down. 50 years later the dragon will hit the third growth stage(see chart below). 100 years later will be when the next on hits. Each new stage is now reached after 100 years. They can live up to 1000 years old but stop growing after the 7th stage. They are considered adults when they are at the 3rd stage and elders at the 6the stage. Elders are highly respected and looked to for wisdom. Dragon Colors:In the Other World posts you will find a list of associated colors for each dragon and what those colors mean. Please follow these guidelines. Dragons and Bonding: Bonding ritual is done in an "arena" where the ready to hatch eggs are placed. Typically there are 2 to 4 eggs, with 5 eligible 18 year old candidates, which means not everyone becomes a rider. The candidates cannot approach the eggs, but must remain in a circular area that is marked off for each candidate. They remain in the arena until all eggs have hatched, unless one is chosen before the rest of the eggs hatch, then the chosen one is taken to an indoor garden with his dragon to feed it and bond with it. When an egg hatches the hatchling may go straight to it's chosen one, or it may roam the arena until it makes it's choice. As well, a hatchling may turn it's back on all candidates and go to sleep. In this situation, the hatchling remains in the arena until all eggs have hatched, and the others have either chosen a rider or denied them all. Then the candidates left unchosen are escorted out. If the dragon does not choose a rider then it is released to either find it's own rider or to live on its own forever. During bonding, once the hatchling has eaten its fill, it will lay down with it's companion and push the Rider into sleep. During this deep sleep the dragon implants a part of its spirit into the rider, bestowing magical abilities, and resulting in a tattoo appearing on the left side of the riders body, somewhere above the waist. The tattoo varies, but typically is symbolic of the union. The rider will now learn to use the powers the dragon has given it, and his aging will slow and he will lie as long as the dragon does. Should one die, they both die because of this bond. Dragon Riders:To become a dragon rider you must enroll at the Dragon Academy. They take anyone of all ages in and teach you all you need to know about fighting, magic, and dragons. When you are 18 you can go to your first Egg Hatching Ceremony to see if you will be chosen to be a rider. Other times dragons choose people outside of the Dragon Academy. These riders ride for their own purpose and cannot ride for the King.

GuideLines Modern World people know nothing about Dracopolis. Dracopolis knows there are other people out there but know nothing of the way they live.
Dracopolis is an underground kingdom that is making its way above ground again now that dragons have their own land and the modern people are not allowed to come near the land.
Dragons can talk to anyone if they have been taught to talk, otherwise they only speak to their riders with thoughts.
